Where does your money go?

May 19, 2010

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of Australia’s most well-loved fundraising events, and plays a vital role in raising money towards Cancer Council’s work in research, education, prevention and support.

How your money helps:
1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. Last year Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea raised a mind-boggling $10.6 million! One dollar at a time you are making a difference helping to fund Cancer Council’s research, prevention, education and support services.

Here’s how every cup counts:

$5 can help us give a newly diagnosed cancer patient important support and information resources to help them through their cancer journey.

$10 can help staff the Cancer Council Helpline (13 11 20) with expertly trained nurses and health counsellors.

$20 can help train a Cancer Connect volunteer to provide one-to-one support for people diagnosed with cancer.

$50 can help us visit a community to educate health professionals and support patients and carers.

$100 can help provide SunSmart educational talks to schools and community groups.

$500 can help fund research into the causes of cancer and into new and improved treatments.

Cairns’ Biggest Morning Tea will be held on Thursday 27 May as the local signature event for Cancer Council Queensland’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraising campaign.  Community support for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is vital and we welcome the participation of all locals for our ‘Cairns Biggest Morning Tea’. It is a great way for local businesses and groups to become valued supporters of Cancer Council Queensland and great community contributors.

We aim to put Cairns on the map as hosting the biggest and best event of the campaign, much like Cairns holds that title for Relay For Life, and we welcome contributions from all supporters hosting morning teas in Cairns.

Please support the Cancer Council at your centre by hosting a tic toc teacup-a-thon to raise funds and help tip the balance in the fight against cancer!
